Erik's philosophy and background

Erik has been on a mission for more than 15 years: to help everyone live healthily and lose weight if that's important. Most importantly, he wants to help make food into a natural and stress-free part of their lives.

Erik has been interested in food since he was a boy. Even at kindergarten he felt strongly about the food he was being offered, and this feeling only got stronger in school. At the age of 13 Erik started reading about nutrition and experimenting in the kitchen. Soon he started putting his knowledge into practice and has never looked back.

Erik now works with the Estonian government to improve the food served at kindergarten.

The link between what you eat and how you feel

Erik has experienced firsthand what happens when you have an unhealthy diet: as a young man his digestion wasn't working very well, his moods were messed up and he wasn’t sleeping well, causing his bodyweight to go up and down. When he came to realise that most of his problems were caused by food, he acted fast to solve the problem.

The updated nutrition pyramid – the three macronutrients balanced, not stacked, and from healthy sources

After reading many articles about food and nutrition he made the link: what you eat affects how you feel and what you can do, particularly if you are sensitive towards certain types of food. After making changes to his diet he felt so much better. And he couldn't wait to help other people feel better too.

For the past six years he has helped close to 10,000 people in his native Estonia feel healthier and lose weight through the Dietless app. In total, Estonian Dietless customers have lost an astonishing 130k pounds of bodyfat!

The key foundations of Dietless

Over the years, and after extensive research, Erik formulated the Dietless nutrition programme, a way to eat healthily, feel great, and lose weight, no matter what your dietary intolerances and allergies. This is why:

Free from refined sugar

Why leave out refined sugar when it's so tasty?

Well it may seem tasty but that's a bit of a trick. Refined sugar will disrupt the normal function of key hormones in your body, which play an important role in determining when you eat, how much you should eat and your blood sugar levels. Refined sugar disrupts the function of key hormones such as ghrelin, leptin and insulin.

There are plenty of natural alternatives

Through Dietless, Erik show you how healthy food can actually be so much tastier than unhealthy food. He shows you how it should be prepared, when to eat and how how much you should eat to get the most out of your natural ingredients.

Dietless does include ‘sweet’ recipes (like gluten free pancakes with chocolate and avocado cream!) but these include naturally occuring sugar rather than refined.

Free from processed foods

What if I'm really busy though?

First, there’s no real excuse to eat processed foods, because you’ll just eat yourself sick. It’s a short term fix with unpleasant consequences. Low nutrient foods have low energy level, meaning that you will too. And by eating processed vegetable oil your body will use it to make a cell membrane, which is far inferior to membranes made from healthier alternatives. You become what you eat!

Healthy food can also be quick food

Most of our recipes take less than 30 minutes to prepare and cook, so you don't have to spend hours in the kitchen.

By smart planning, you can also ensure you cook only every two days. If you get fed up of cooking, we also recommend healthy eating out options.

Mainly gluten free

What if I love bread though?

First off, we don’t think gluten is in itself a bad thing and we don’t totally exclude it from recipes (unless you request a gluten free diet). The problem is bread: this is usually low in nutrients and high in calories and sugar. So the sugar sparks unhealthy cravings.

There are plenty of tasty alternatives

You can still eat bread, but just eat it rarely, eat a small amount and choose a sugar free option if possible.

We also include plenty of suggestions for gluten free alternatives to bread like rice cakes.

The scientific proof

Although Erik can explain in astonishing detail why a certain recipe is healthy, or show you 1000s of Dietless success stories, he wanted scientific proof that Dietless worked.

With the internet full of misleading and conflicting advice about nutrition, he wanted Dietless customers to have complete confidence in the product.

Findings of TFTAK (Centre of Food and Fermentation Technologies)

A 2017 scientific study conducted in cooperation with TFTAK has revealed that after only 30 days of healthy eating under the special nutrition plan of Dietless, people experienced a significant and positive changes to the gut, feelings of wellbeing and reduced body weight.

The study found that Dietless:

  • reduces the number of bacteria associated with type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease
  • reduces the number of bacteria associated with inflammatory processes
  • provides the amount of fiber needed for daily nutrition;
  • improves bowel movements
  • promotes the growth of bacteria associated with healthy blood tests.
  • reduces excess weight and increases the amount of bacteria associated with normal body weight in the gut
  • is suitable for weight loss
